Frequently Asked Questions

These are just some of the most common questions we get asked. For anything else, please contact us – we would be delighted to help.

It cannot be free?

We can assure you if you meet all the qualifying criteria then you will receive 100% of the cost, you will not have to pay anything towards the work carried out. If for any reason you don’t qualify we will notify you before any installation is carried out OR alternatively you could qualify to a large contribution to the work, meaning a small amount is to be paid.

I tried before and was refused?

The new scheme (ECO3) was introduced on the 1st October 2018, the criteria has been relaxed in order for more households to benefit from the grants, so there is a very good chance you will now be eligible.

Where does the money come from?

The money comes from Energy suppliers such as British Gas, NPower, etc. The Government have set the utility companies targets to reduce carbon emissions. This is known as the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO), which meants installers complete the work and then invoice the utility companies or their managing agents for the grant amount.

How long does the work take?

For the average sized property, Cavity Wall Insulation takes around two to three hours and Loft Insulation takes around one hour, Room in Roof Insulation and Boiler Replacements around a day. However, you will be advised how long it will take after the survey is carried out prior to installation.

Will I have to fill in lots of paperwork?

Not at all, Providing you would like to go ahead, the surveyor who carries out your free no-obligation survey will complete the necessary paperwork and we will then deal with the grant application on your behalf.

How soon can I have my insulation?

This will vary depending on the area in which you live and the time of year but you could expect to have the work carried out between two and six weeks after your enquiry.

What if I rent my property?

It is the occupier of a property that is entitled to a grant as they pay the fuel bills. Private tenants are entitled to grants, depending on their circumstances. We will need written permission from your landlord before going ahead with the work, but we will take care of this for you.

Who will do the work?

Our network of accredited installers will carry out the necessary work meaning that everything is covered, from safety to compliance.
